If you recently found out you are pregnant and are considering an abortion, it is important make an informed decision about the different types of procedures, as well as the risks associated with each type. As with any major decision, you will want to gather and consider as many facts as possible before making your final choice.
The staff at the Colorado Springs Pregnancy Center can provide you with the information you will need in an open, objective manner, and will remain available to answer any additional questions you have regarding abortion.
There are two primary methods of abortion: a surgical procedure and a medical procedure. The surgical procedure is performed in-clinic, while the medical procedure can be started in the clinic and completed at home, and is most commonly referred to as the abortion pill. The method chosen is dependent upon how far along you are in your pregnancy. The gestational age (how far along the pregnancy is) can be determined by an ultrasound.
A surgical abortion is used to terminate a pregnancy in the first, second, or third trimester. The medical procedure, taken orally, can be performed until you are 70 days pregnant. As with any medical procedure, both types of abortion come with risks. Therefore, you will need to make sure that you have given yourself the proper time to evaluate all of those factors before reaching your final decision.
If you are considering an abortion, please contact the Colorado Springs Pregnancy Center today before scheduling your abortion.
