What is the Best Time to Take a Pregnancy Test?

The best time to take a pregnancy test is after your first missed period. One week following your missed period is a good standard. There are some tests that claim to provide accurate results as early as four days before your period is due, but most pregnancy tests are more accurate following your missed period. The most common sign of pregnancy is a missed period, so if you normally fall on a regular menstrual schedule and have missed a period by a few days, take a pregnancy test right away.

Urine pregnancy tests indicate whether your urine contains hCG, a hormone that a woman's body produces after a fertilized egg attaches to the wall of the uterus. If this hormone is elevated, the pregnancy test will show that you are pregnant. These urine tests are 97% accurate.

The Colorado Springs Pregnancy Center provides a free pregnancy test clinic in Colorado Springs. If you feel you may be pregnant, come in to one of our convenient locations for a free pregnancy test. We can discuss whether you are in the timeframe of the best time to take a pregnancy test. If you are, results are available during your appointment and will indicate whether or not you are pregnant. Our client advocates are available to talk about the results with you and also answer any questions you have.

If you are pregnant, we will help you understand your options, figure out how far along you are, and your approximate due date. If an ultrasound will be helpful, our nurse manager can discuss that with you. Everything will be kept confidential and free of charge.

Free pregnancy tests are available at any of our offices around Colorado Springs. Call us at 719.591.2724 for an appointment or stop in at your convenience.
